It’s time for peace after 40 years of war on drugs.
After 40 years of “war on drugs”, Dejusticia, together with other organizations that are part of the Latin American chapter of the International Consortium on Drug Policy (IDPC), claim the democratic right of all peoples of the continent to fix everything that has not worked in the war on drugs. We call for the end of the purely criminal and police approach, and believe on democratically building one in which emphasis is placed on social development, education, universal health coverage, freedom, and the rights of all people. Después de 40 años de la “guerra contra las drogas”, Dejusticia, junto con las demás organizaciones que formamos parte del capítulo latinoamericano del Consorcio Internacional de Políticas de Drogas (IDPC) reivindicamos el derecho democrático de todos los pueblos del continente a corregir todo lo que no ha funcionado en la guerra a las drogas, y pedimos el fin de un enfoque puramente criminal y policiaco, y la construcción democrática de otro en el que se privilegie el desarrollo social, la educación, la cobertura universal en salud, la libertad y los derechos de todas las personas.
