Open call for Global North fellowships 2024
This opportunity, for the second semester of 2024, allows for the exchange of tools and research-action strategies developed at Dejusticia, as well as the contributions of interns and fellows with their own experiences and those of their organizations.

If you are passionate about working for human rights, want to gain experience in this field, and be part of a collaborative and creative team consisting of academic-activists from Colombia and other parts of the world, apply for one of the positions in our international fellowships program for the Global North for the second semester of 2024.
This call for applications is open until January 31, 2024. Dejusticia will provide successful applicants with the opportunity to join a safe space to work on various thematic lines and cross-cutting areas at Dejusticia. Interns and fellows will have the chance to strengthen their research abilities and reflect on issues such as social and environmental justice worldwide, aiming to inspire new transformative strategies, approaches, and actions as a team.
What profiles are we looking for?
Students with excellent research and writing skills, a strong sense of initiative, and a willingness to be part of a dynamic, young, and bright team of academic-activists.
Global North Intern Profile:
A student enrolled in an undergraduate program at a university in the Global North who wishes to undertake an internship, either voluntarily or as part of the requirements for their degree.
Global North Fellow Profile:
A person who recently completed and received an undergraduate or graduate university degree (intends to be a Dejusticia scholarship recipient within one year of graduation), or who is pursuing postgraduate studies for a master’s or doctoral degree.

What do we offer?
Internships lasting 3-6 months and fellowships for 3 months to one (1) year, during which the fellow will support Dejusticia’s work. Participants are required to develop at least one blog entry reflecting on their experience or work, intended for publication on Dejusticia’s Global Blog. Additionally, participants are expected to assist with translations of documents needed by the hosting team.
It is important to note that Dejusticia will not cover travel expenses (visa, tickets) and will not provide compensation in the event of selection. Fellows and/or interns from the Global North are responsible for securing their own funding to support their stay in Colombia and their work at Dejusticia.
How to apply?
The call for applications will be open until January 31, 2024 (11:59 p.m. – Colombia time). To apply, please fill out the following form and include:
- Cover letter indicating a) the period of availability, b) the Dejusticia research area in which you are interested in working, and c) the time you can dedicate to work at Dejusticia.
- CV, including the level of proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Academic writing in English and/or Spanish, of any length.
- Two reference letters.
Who are we?
The Center for the Study of Law, Justice and Society (Dejusticia) is a non-profit think tank based in Bogotá, Colombia, that works to strengthen the rule of law and promote human rights in the country and in the Global South. We combine rigorous research and strategic activism in order to achieve social transformations. Our “action-research” methodology is the cornerstone of our work as an organization. We build knowledge from rigorous research and hand in hand with communities. We work collaboratively building networks at national, regional and global levels, with a view to strengthening the voices of the Global South on the issues we work on.
