Autry Johnson is Potawatomi of the Anishinaabek and a Master of Global Affairs candidate at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Toronto. During his undergrad at Michigan State University, he double majored in International Relations and Comparative Cultures in Politics, emphasizing postcolonial theory and Indigenous sovereignty in global contexts.
Autry’s background and lived experience growing up in the US reservation system guided him to analyze the complexities of Indigenous nationhood in a multidisciplinary manner through existing legal systems, social/political and environmental movements, the international political economy and academic theory.
