Carolina Villadiego Burbano

Carolina is a Colombian lawyer from the Universidad de los Andes. He has a Master’s Degree in Law (LLM) from the University of George Washington in the United States, and a Master’s Degree in Political Science and Sociology from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO). Her professional experience has focused on justice systems and their connection with human rights in Latin America, and on developing advocacy strategies in these fields.

Carolina has participated as a teacher in some universities, especially in topics related to the justice system functioning. Among his publications are several articles such as, “The multitematic and diverse reform of justice in Latin America”, “Approach to the analysis of corruption in the Colombian Judicial Branch” (in co-authorship with Juan Sebastián Hernández), and ” Non-criminal justice systems in Latin America: information on civil-commercial, labor, family and contentious-administrative justice”.

She worked with several institutions, including the Ombudsman’s Office of Colombia, the Justice Studies Center of the Americas (JSCA) and the Center for Law, Justice and Society Studies (Dejusticia). Currently, she is Legal Counsel for Latin America of the International Commission of Jurists and is currently part of the Board of Director at Dejusticia.
