Gerardo Contreras studied Public Policies in the Center of Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE), Mexico. He was research assistant in the Area of Sexual and Reproductive Rights by the same institution and intern in Mexican organization Equis: Justice for Women.
He participated in Transgender Conference: Intersectional/International of the University of Edinburgh. Nowadays, he collaborates with the human rights organization Intersecta, the pedagogical program Catalyst: Youth voices rethinking the war on drugs, and the Mexican Network of Trans Women. He has written on regional journals and magazines about gender, drug policies, violence and queer theory. His research areas are sexual policies, criminal policies and justice administration from feminist theory, queer theory and critical legal studies.
