Karen is an anthropologist graduated from the University of Antioquia. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law at the University of Medellín. She has worked as a researcher at the National Faculty of Public Health, served as the Deputy Secretary of Security and Citizen Coexistence in the Turbo District in 2020, and coordinated the Justice House. Additionally, she is a member of the Visaje Negro collective. Her areas of interest include socio-cultural research, the rights of Afro-descendant communities affected by the armed conflict in Colombia, and the respect for International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
