Ladyane Katlyn de Souza is a lawyer, consultant and academic researcher. She has a master’s degree in Human Rights and citizenship from the University of Brasilia, under the theme of “Gender Political Violence”. Throughout her career as a Human Rights defender, she has had the opportunity to intern in South Africa, at the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (STIAS) and Wallenberg Research Centre.

Ladyane Souza has always been interested in current Latin American Social Rights and Emerging Political Issues, which is why she has focused her studies on that region. Currently, she works in the NGO ACT promoting health and Human Rights, and has previously been a Consultant for the Digital Rights Initiative in Latin America (Indela) and Research Assistant in Consulting for the UNDP, on the implementation of the International Convention on Human Rights. In Brazil, Ladyane is the Principal Representative in the Permanent Committee on the Right to Information, Communication and Freedom of Expression of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and Counselor in the National Health Council (CNS). From a very young age she has been involved in various projects related to humanitarian issues, and she worked with the Candanga Lawyers’ Collective and the Feminist Lawyers’ Network. She has more than 8 years of experience denouncing serious Human Rights violations, during which she has been connected with traditional communities, social movements and volunteering for social transformation. In the future she wants to do a Ph.D. in Political Science and Gender.
