Paola is a lawyer and holds a postgraduate diploma in Constitutional Law from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She also has an LLM degree in international legal studies from New York University and a master’s degree in sociology from Universidad de Los Andes.
She has developed her career mainly in the public sector, where she worked as an advisor at the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace during the Peace Talks with the FARC, at the House of Representatives, and in agencies of the Colombian transitional justice system. Additionally, she has been an adjunct professor at the Universidad Nacional and Universidad del Rosario.
At Dejusticia, she has worked as a researcher on topics related to women’s and LGBTIQ+ population rights and on public interest litigation. Her research interests revolve around state bureaucracies, the sociology of law, state capacities, and critical approaches to transitional justice. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Transitional Justice team.
