Paola is a lawyer and holds a postgraduate diploma in Constitutional Law from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She also has an LLM in international legal studies from New York University, and she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sociology at Universidad de Los Andes.
She has developed her career mainly in the public sector, where she has worked as an advisor at the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace during the Peace Talks with the FARC, at the House of Representatives, at the Special Jurisdiction for Peace and at the Truth Commission. She has been an adjunct professor at the Universidad Nacional and Universidad del Rosario.
At Dejusticia she has been a researcher on topics related to women’s and LGBTIQ+ population rights and on public interest litigation. Her research interests revolve around state bureaucracies, the sociology of law, state capacities, and critical approaches to transitional justice. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Transitional Justice team.
